1. Read the interview with a British businessman and say in 2—3 sentences what It is about.

The article is an interview with a businessman about pros and cons of technological means of communication. He shares his Ideas with a journalist how businessmen benefit from using them at home and at their workplace.

2. What on the benefits of the computers? Read aloud the extract which says about them.

I think the benefits of the computers cannot be denied. They save valuable time and space. Time-consuming tasks such as checking bank accounts can now be done in a matter of minutes and a large volume of information is economically stored on tiny disks. In addition, with immediate access to the Internet, we can always keep up with global and current issues and explore the world from the comfort of our homes.

3. How do businessmen benefit from using technological means of communication at their workplace?

Keeping up with rapid technological development businessmen sucсessfully use modem means of communication to get In touch with other companies and to come to an agreement on important matters.

4. When are technological means of communication misused?

Many people spend hours playing games or just chatting about silly, unimportant things or looking through sites for no special reason even at work.

The action took place near London in a big old house where Martin's granny lived.

2. What happened to the furniture in the grandmother's room?

All the furniture was moved to the left side of the room, and the carpet was on the other side of the room.

3. Why were Martin and his friend scared?

It was really scary because the furniture was quite heavy even for four men to lift. And there was nobody n the house besides Martin, his friend and his granny.

The family is very important as a unit in our society. Nothing else but family can be an emotional center of people's life. Every mother feels great affection for her children and tries to bring them up in a proper way. Understanding between the members of the family and consideration for others are very important in family relationship. Tenderness, warm-heartedness and respect must always be present in the family to make it friendly. A lot of activities help members of the family to be on friendly terms: discussing all the family plans together, going on trips hikes together, visiting museums, theaters, exhibitions and exchanging opinions about them, sharing the same joys and sorrows. Now I’d like to tell you about my family. Our family is not large. We are a family of four: my father, my mother, my younger brother and I. My name Is Olga. I’m seventeen. I am a school leaver. My younger brother is ten. He is a pupil of the fifth form. He looks like our father. As for me everybody says I took like my mother I am an ordinary girl of 17.Our family lives In Minsk. We have a nice three-roomed flat on the fourth floor of a multistoried building. My mother is about 40. She looks pretty well. My mother is an economist. The firm she works in deals with trading. My father is an engineer in computers. He is considered to be an experienced engineer. We are very proud of him. We don’t have such problems as misunderstanding between the members of the family. I think that it is due to the age of my parents and their character. Our family is very united. We love and respect each other. I am proud of my family. We are happy when we are together.
